Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ)
Your parenting journey involves growth for both you and your child.
Ages & Stages Questionnaires help you navigate developmental milestones, offering valuable insights to support your child’s progress with confidence.
What is ASQ?
The Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) is a developmental screening tool designed to help you monitor your child’s progress from one month to 5 ½ years old. It assesses key areas such as communication, motor skills, problem-solving, and social-emotional growth. Since the ASQ is a screening rather than a diagnostic tool, it identifies potential delays and highlights areas where extra support may be beneficial, ensuring your child receives the necessary resources to thrive.
How Does ASQ Work?
You pick a questionnaire that fits your child’s age and answer questions about what you observe. The results show how your child is progressing with milestones.
Why is ASQ Important?
- Parent education: ASQ helps you understand important milestones, track progress, and know what to expect. It also points out areas where you can support your child’s development.
- Guide support: Gives you helpful tools to assist your child’s growth and make informed decisions.
- Celebrate growth: A chance for you to learn about and celebrate your child’s milestones.
- Early detection: Helps you spot developmental delays early so your child can get the support they need for better long-term outcomes.
Understanding ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE -2
The ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 are both screening tools from the Ages and Stages Questionnaire, each serving a distinct purpose. ASQ-3 assesses overall developmental milestones, while ASQ:SE-2 focuses on social-emotional growth. Below, you’ll find information about each screening area per the Ages and Stages.
